NEW-YORK based-MyPod Studios, the newest community of online video that was introduced in September last year, bagged over 5 million views three months after its birth, based on the latest audience monitoring data by QuantCast.
This makes MyPod Studios the 191st most visited website in the country, next to cbsnews.com, bliptiv.com and collegehumor.com and only five places behind online giant hulu.com.
Online users visiting the MPS website are now spending more time watching videos, with time-on-site (ToS) increasing two-fold from the December-January period, and returning more often, averaging almost 30 percent as new features and content have been integrated.
In a bid to strengthen its momentum, MyPod Solutions signed recently 5 new business partners: Phuneware, Howdini.com, Grab Networks, OpenFilms and MotorSport.
Unlike most rival websites that solely depend on so-called “beginner” content, MyPod Solutions is creating a “fenced virtual village platform” that only allows videos from pre-approved content partners.
With MPS’ distinct model, it has been able to attain a high-profitability standing in less than a year since its inception, with below half a million in venture financing.
According to MPS chief executive officer and founder Jay Miletsky, the company owes its fast growth in a highly-stacked industry to the fact that it taps into a basic need with MPS – both in the advertising and consumer front.
Miletsky said that people do not have the time to pore through hours and hours of video just to search for something that caters to their interest, so MPS does the laborious searching for them.
He added that because MPS is very successful in enticing people advertising firms find it very reassuring and feel at ease marketing through their site.
The online video industry is rapidly evolving and growing, with a huge number of people now relying on their computers for information and entertainment. For January of this year alone, over 175 million people visited the top 10 video sites on the web, ComScore reported.
The gated platform of MyPod Solutions is directly opposite many online video market firms, specifically YouTube, which runs more than 60 hours of fresh content per minute.
MPS’ set of 5 thousand videos offer interesting content across 8 niches, including beverages, food, fitness and health, sports, gaming, entertainment, among others.
To keep visitors entertained, MPS will expand its online video format next month, with multiple hosts to aid viewers in navigating and searching for the kind of content that will suit their needs.
